WEATHER
During the month of August the weather in Lima is mostly humid and cold, even though presently, and in spite of the fact that we’re officially in winter season (from June 23), we’re in the midst of an agreeable spring warmth, with temperatures ranging from 18 degrees C to 22 C. It is expected that this nice weather will last throughout September, although it is hard to predict the weather given sudden climactic changes.

CURRENCY
The official currency in Peru is the New Sol and its symbol is S/.
Paper denominations circulating are 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 New Soles. Coins found in circulation are of 1 and 5 New Soles, and 10, 20 and 50 cents. The Peruvian economy has been “dollarized” in about 70%, so it is possible to pay for any commercial and/or service transactions in either currency.
Rate of Exchange
Presently one dollar changes for S/ 2.82 New Soles. For Europeans the exchange is at S/ 4.12 for one euro. There are many houses of exchange; also, busy “changers” to be found in downtown areas will trade your dollar or euro. Hotels and commercial shops will also take your foreign currency, but at significantly higher rate of exchange.
CREDIT CARDS
The most widely accepted credit cards in Peru are: Visa, American Express, Dinners and Master Card.
BANKING
In Lima, banks do their normal business Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays till noon.

TAXI SERVICE (Upon arriving in Lima)
For public assistance counters are located at international and domestic terminals, just before exiting buildings. For your own safety we recommend you hire dependable transportation. Inside terminal buildings era located 3 registered taxi companies, Taxi CMV, Taxi Mitsui Remise, Green Taxi.

As an example of the mentioned companies’ fare, CMV and Remise charge $US 36.00 to Miraflores (where most hotels are located); while Green Taxi will charge you $US 19.50 or S/ 55 to the same destination.
Some other companies are authorized to enter airport facilities while others simply park nearby. it is unnecessary to take any security risks.
